I love to puzzle together the perfect pieces of Pacific Northwest beach treasures, each one from a far distant past of towering timber, since tumbled smooth in an unrelenting surf.
Each driftwood sculpture is created from wood washed ashore on our local Olympic Peninsula beaches. I take great care to select the stoutest wood with no punk or rot.
As I build my sculptures I treat and seal each individual piece and then finish the entire sculpture with three coats of spar varathane varnish.
