Commissioned sculptures provide the opportunity to craft a personalized piece for my clients. I am generally a realist, but I love the rare "build outside the box" work of art. When a client requested a "representation of a man" skeletal in form, I was challenged to refrain from my usual detailed style. His desire was to "sit and have a cup of coffee with my mate", and so I surprised him with the driftwood cup o' Joe. His private property fronts on a much visited beach and he truly wished to share the joy of art with others, so the sculpture is available to view for those strolling near the waves at the mouth of the Elwha River. Visitors have begun to leave treasures along side, blending art with environment.
