I am normally a realist, and I approach a piece using vast photo reference, carefully building my sculptures to scale and proportion. I strive to capture the subject in great detail, even the musculature. Many of my works are left in the natural wood tones, but with some, the defining feature is their color. I then stain the wood to achieve the essence of the subject matter. In exploring unique sculpting mediums, I have incorporated epoxy resin in several works to create a water effect, such as an eagle or heron snatching a fish from the river.
